Here is Robyn's Story....
One of my favourite clients once described me as a killer-heeled, serial entrepreneur! I'm guilty of both (I do love my gorgeous shoes!), but I'm infinitely prouder of being an entrepreneur and business owner.
Like so many of my clients, starting a family was the catalyst for setting up my own businesses. With 2 young children and the potential of living a nomadic life (my husband being a professional sportsman), it just made perfect sense! So I left my high flying corporate HR career, and I haven't looked back...
I must admit, it's been an incredible and challenging journey - and each of my businesses have all evolved over time. Mums The Business was initially created as a coaching practice for mumpreneurs wanting to start up a home-based business. I was once called "Business Link for Mumpreneurs"!, but I soon realised where my joy and skills lay - and that was in helping business women to be clear & confident and compelling, when they TALKED about their business. Today, Mums The Business keeps me very busy with training and mentoring business women on
- how to get crystal clear and confident about your business niche and business message (for the purposes of marketing, promoting, networking, blogging)
- how to stand out from the crowd, let the world know about your uniqueness, and therefore how to distinguish yourself from your competitors (this is particularly useful for network marketers or those in a crowded market)
- how to successfully connect and have useful conversations with your potential clients (face to face and using social media)
- how to attract the ideal clients to come to you (through online and offline networking)
Over the last few years, I also ran two franchises of one of the most successful and premier Business Women's networking organizations, by managing 9 business groups in the South West London area. Alongside Mums The Business, this meant that I have trained over 500 business women in networking skills and business promotion. And I loved every moment of it - watching someone discover their voice and their words, to talk about their business with clarity and confidence, is incredibly fulfilling and inspiring (for both of us!)
Today, I help other Franchise business owners to promote their businesses - following their franchise ethos, but also letting them stand out from the crowd.
I also help Network Marketing and Direct Selling business owners as I have my own thriving Network Marketing business - and I know the challenges of promoting businesses like these, without wanting to sound "scripted or salesey"!
And last, but not least! I'm currently creating a new and exciting international organization: She’s The Business – so watch this space!
As you've probably guessed by now, I thrive on new challenges - mine and yours! With a background in Psychology; being a Master NLP Practitioner; a certified Confidence Coach; a Business Coach; a Networking Strategist and trainer; and a communications freak, I can help you find the clarity and confidence, to craft really powerful & compelling business conversations and presentations, both online and face-to-face, so that your clients gasp "OMG! I have to work with YOU!"
Let's talk soon... Robyn x
The Finer Print….
Robyn grew up and was educated in South Africa. With a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, a Masters Diploma in Human Resources, and a love for fashion & beauty, she naturally started her working life at the head office of one of South Africa’s largest, national retail chains (The Foschini Group).
She would probably still be there (that was the plan!) if it wasn’t for the fact that she married her school sweetheart, and soon after, he was presented with the opportunity to become a professional sportsman in the UK. The plan was to stay in the UK for 2 years! Thirteen years on, and they now have a London home, 2 cats and 2 children!
In fact, it was the arrival of those 2 precious children, that eventually prompted Robyn to walk away from her HR career, to retrain as a Business Coach and Master NLP Practitioner, and to launch her own business. It certainly wasn’t part of the plan (once again!), as Robyn explains here:
“It was never my intention to run my own business, but looking back at how I arrived here, I now know it was meant to be! It’s such a cliché’, but I love helping people and solving problems, and always knew my future career would have this focus.
Over the years, I climbed the HR ladder of success, but it came at a price, moving focus from truly helping individuals in their career challenges to strategic HR (far less “people” focused). My career began to lose its sparkle. Having returned to work after both my children were born (a difficult decision), I began to face a life and career crossroads - I was desperate to spend more time with my young children, I was being encouraged to move further on up the HR success ladder, and I was facing the prospect of moving abroad every 2 years (due to my husband being a professional sportsman). The answer was obvious – create my own business in such a way, that I could run it on my own terms.
But don’t be fooled! It wasn’t easy... In fact, it was through starting up my own business from home, that I realised the incredible hurdles faced by mums wanting to do this themselves. Not only are there the practical aspects of starting and running a business, but there's a whole lot of new business confidence to be found! And once you have a business, how do you promote it and communicate it well – so that customers truly understand what you are offering, your value and what makes you and your business special?
What makes me well suited to help mumpreneurs start up, grow and communicate effectively about their own business? Maybe because I’ve now done it – successfully – 3 times!
Besides Mums The Business (my own creation), I also successfully ran and sold (at a tidy profit!) 2 franchises of a national business women’s networking organization. I run a network marketing business (http://robynhatley.myarbonne.co.uk/)! And I’ll soon be launching another international business! Phew!
So if you’d like a guiding hand and practical actions that are relatively easy to implement, then do get in touch. This is what I do and I’d love to do it for you!"
